Faster, better and cheaper - It's what we are all about at MPG Motors!
I have mentioned in the past how fortunate MPG Motors was
to locate in Sellersville, PA. Part of that is the motorsports
friendly environment we enjoy! When ace Sprint Car wrench
and next-door business neighbor Bud Stone buys one of your
first scooters from you and brother Mark says things like, "We
just want MPG Motors to succeed!" while he is snow plowing
your used car lot, you know you picked the right area to open
your business. Now besides the scooter, Bud has a Harley
and is worth his own story someday but we are focusing
today on Mark.

Mark Stone has been riding since he was a teenager. He is a
serious rider - very professional in his approach. Although he
doesn't have a Hyosung (yet!) he does straddle both a
Suzuki V-Strom and his steed for this story, a Honda ST1300.

See Mark rides, and rides, and rides. This story starts at
5:30am in June in Boyertown, PA. (
click the pix to enlarge)
Mark and a friend, head west across
Pennsylvania. Their mission - to visit
a number of National Parks along
the way to California ... and to have
fun. They average over 500 miles a
day. They ride over 8,000 miles in
15 days! Mark's longest day in the
saddle covered 1,100 miles alone!
But, it wasn't just twisting the grip.
Remember the mission! Have fun
and visit parks from the seat of a
bike!
This first of many pictures is typical of
the trip west - Rocky Mountain
National Park in Colorado. Now, they
didn't take Rt. 80 through the
mountains, they went over them. After
topping out the Continental Divide at
over 11,000 feet, the guys
descended into Utah. They
apparently took the back road. Like I
said, Mark is a rider and he took that
touring bike and did a little
off-roadin'! He crossed the country by
taking some dirt roads!
They traversed Nevada and made their way into California across the Sierra Nevadas. Of
course they stopped at Yosemite and Lake Tahoe!
Mark toured the parks of California. Here, in June, is the amount of snow that was still at
Lassen Volcano in Northern California. Plus, here is the hole Mark put in a 5,000 year old tree!
Mark then turned around and blasted back to
Pennsylvania. He rode over 8,000 miles in a little
over two weeks. But he saw some of the best
National Parks this great country has to offer and
wrote a story he can tell for the rest of his life.

That was a man with a plan - Mark Stone,
rider, neighbor, friend!

Mark thank-you for
taking us with you on
the ride!
